Flat Stanley took a most excellent trip by train with his friend Tom.
Flat Stanley, Tom, and hundreds of other passengers rode in a long passenger train.
They left from Seattle and went all the way to Chicago, Illinois.
Flat Stanley got to ride the train in his own special pocket facing the window, where he could watch the world racing by.
Once it gets started, a passenger train makes a lot of stops at one city after the next, letting some passengers off as other passengers get on. Shortly after Flat Stanley’s train left Seattle, it stopped in Everett, Washington.
Passenger train runs all through the day, then all through the night, until they get to their last stop. Here Flat Stanley saw Wenatchee, Washington, in the dark. It was even raining!
Over the next couple of days, Flat Stanley saw more interesting towns and cities from the passenger train, like Wolf Point, Montana, …
… and Winona, Minnesota, …
… and Columbus, Wisconsin. Flat Stanley even saw Stanley, North Dakota, but it was so dark, he saw only a little of it.
Of course, Flat Stanley didn’t just see the cities and towns as he rode the passenger train. He saw lots of countryside too, like mountains and forests …
… and prairies …
… and farms …
… and even other trains!
But finally after all those stops in six different states, and after all those mountains and prairies, Flat Stanley finally got to Chicago, Illinois – two whole days after leaving Seattle!
Just wait ’til you find out what he saw and did there!
